galway bound!

So, the day has finally come! I'm all packed and sitting at Logan waiting for my first flight. It's quite silly that I'm flying from Logan to Dulles to Newark, THEN to Shannon, but I'll get there eventually. It was definitely not easy saying goodbye to my family, friends, and especially Alex, but I avoided a total meltdown in the airport...sort of. I've been in "freak out" mode lately knowing that the day was coming. It's a weird feeling knowing you're leaving and not coming back for five months. However, now that I'm here I'm excited and ready to arrive to beautiful Galway.

Next time I write it will be from Ireland!

brandy new blogger!

Hello all, and welcome to my blog! As most of you know who will be reading this blog, my name is Lauren Chappell. I am a junior at Boston College studying nursing. This upcoming semester, I will be studying abroad in Galway, Ireland. I absolutely cannot wait to live in another country for several months and to travel to as many places as possible.

I'm not really the "blogging type" but I thought this would be a great way for loved ones from home to keep up with my life. Selfishly, I also want a place to write and reflect on my travels. I'll post different experiences and things that inspire me. I hope it is a way for my readers to feel connected with me while I am away.

I am incredibly lucky & grateful for this opportunity and hope to take as much from it as possible.

"If you're brave enough to leave behind everything familiar and comforting, which can be anything from your house to bitter, old resentments, and set out on a truth-seeking journey, either externally or internally, and if you are truly willing to regard everything that happens to you on that journey as a clue and if you accept everyone you meet along the way as a teacher and if you are prepared, most of all, to face and forgive some very difficult realities about yourself, then the truth will not be withheld from you."
